Cultural Competency Training

Repatriation Training

It is estimated that 20% of repatriates leave their jobs after one year, 50% in the first 3 years, representing a substantial financial and human capital loss to the company. CAL Learning repatriation programs help minimize the effects of reverse culture shock, boost retention and leverage new intercultural skills gained on assignment. Programs are designed to help employees assess personal, professional and cultural adjustments that result from reverse culture shock, and develop action plans for easing reentry.

Trainees will:

  • Clarify workplace repatriation issues, one of the main predictors of repatriation success, including expectations, shift in responsibilities and finances, and relationships with colleagues.

  • Identify lifestyle and psychological adjustments in terms of relationships and activities.

  • Set short- and long-term goals to effectively manage repatriation and reverse culture shock.

  • Identify skills and competencies gained on assignment and their application in the home country.
